ANSIC is privately owned. The people on this page run the two licensed arms — Security on sites, venues and events, and Investigations on files.

Leadership comes from the Australian Army and the Queensland Police Service. Combined, that is more than a hundred years in the industry. Around 250 licensed officers and investigators work with them. Headquarters at Unit 3, 100 Campbell Street, Bowen Hills is the office — not the edge of where we work. We hold security licences in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

James Walker

Managing Director

James Walker is the Managing Director and owner of ANSIC — a privately owned security and investigations company licensed in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, based in Bowen Hills. With over 15 years in security, investigations, training and consulting, he has built ANSIC as two complementary arms rather than a generic risk-management brand.

James’s professional journey began with his service in the Australian Army. That work taught leadership, risk management and operational planning in high-stakes environments. After his military career he moved into the private sector, where he rose through operational and consulting roles.

Since October 2017, James has been managing ANSIC, overseeing security and investigations together. His role covers service delivery, business development and regulatory compliance. He manages a team of around 250 professionals — security officers and investigators — so both arms stay licensed, staffed and accountable.

As the Managing Director, James has been instrumental in developing and implementing international sales strategies, monitoring sales and expense performance, and coordinating market intelligence activities. His leadership has driven the successful delivery of risk management consulting services across major projects. James’s ability to navigate complex business environments and deliver innovative solutions has been key to the growth and success of ANSIC.

His professional experience and qualifications are complemented by numerous certifications in security operations, firearms, medical and workplace safety. Known for his integrity, resilience and strategic leadership, James continues to drive ANSIC’s mission to provide top-tier security and investigation solutions.

Trent Sowry

Chief Operating Officer

Trent Sowry brings a wealth of experience and expertise in operational management, security and risk management to his role as Chief Operating Officer at ANSIC Pty Ltd. With a career spanning both military and civilian sectors, Trent’s leadership and strategic planning capabilities have been honed through diverse and challenging environments.

Trent began his career in the Royal Australian Army, where he served with distinction as part of the 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (6 RAR) at Gallipoli Barracks, Queensland. During his service from 2012 to 2015, he completed extensive training in leadership, teamwork and tactical operations. Trent was also a member of the Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Sniper Platoon, participating in numerous exercises across Australia and a notable posting in Malaysia.

Following his military career, Trent transitioned to the private security sector. He worked with various security companies in South-East Queensland, where he applied his military experience to roles in crowd control, close personal protection and security operations management. Trent’s ability to manage security teams and implement effective risk management strategies was evident in his work with Pro Calibre Security and 2Kings Security.

In 2016, Trent took on the role of National Operations Manager for RED Risk Management Company in Kabul, Afghanistan. Here, he demonstrated his leadership skills by managing a team of 200 local staff and expatriates, coordinating with armed forces, and implementing strategic risk management procedures in one of the world’s most challenging environments.

Trent joined ANSIC in 2017 as Operations Manager, where he focused on client acquisition and operational management. His success in these areas led to his promotion to Operations Director in 2019. In this role, Trent oversees all operational needs of the business, including security risk management and technical security. He manages an operations and administration team, recruits and deploys personnel, and creates and reviews risk management procedures for various sites.

Trent holds a Diploma in Security and Risk Management, as well as certifications in security operations, private investigation and close personal protection. His qualifications are complemented by advanced first aid and CPR certifications, ensuring he is well-prepared to handle any operational challenges.

As Chief Operating Officer at ANSIC, Trent’s extensive background in both military and civilian security sectors allows him to lead with a strategic and informed perspective. His commitment to excellence and operational efficiency continues to drive ANSIC’s success in providing top-tier security and risk management solutions.

Fraser Tauakipulu

National Operations Manager

Fraser Tauakipulu brings over 20 years of extensive experience in sales, security and consultancy, making him a vital part of ANSIC as National Operations Manager. His diverse background includes key account management, client relationship management and professional sports, providing him with the versatility and motivation needed to excel in high-pressure environments.

At ANSIC, Fraser’s role involves overseeing the deployment and management of security personnel, creating and implementing risk management procedures, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Fraser’s strategic approach and commitment to integrity and honesty underpin his leadership, ensuring that ANSIC delivers top-tier physical security solutions.

Fraser’s expertise is not limited to operational management; he also excels in staff training and development. He has a proven track record of recruiting, training and managing large teams to deliver exceptional security services. His ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and develop comprehensive security plans has been instrumental in safeguarding high-profile events and clients. Garry Sweet

Senior Consultant — Investigations

Garry Sweet brings over 35 years of extensive experience in law enforcement and security, making him an invaluable asset to ANSIC as the Head of Claims and Investigations. His distinguished career in the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and the private security industry underscores his expertise in investigations, risk management and security operations.

Garry began his career with the Queensland Police Service in 1988, after which he was awarded the Assistant Commissioner’s Award for outstanding performance during his detective training. Over 21 years, he served with distinction, particularly as a Senior Detective in the Drug Squad, State Crime Operations Command. His role included being the senior Operational Skills and Tactics Instructor and a lecturer on investigative courses. Garry’s extensive operational experience is complemented by a bachelor’s degree in Policing (Investigations).

In 2009, Garry transitioned to the private sector as the Executive Officer for one of the largest private security companies in Afghanistan, overseeing 1,236 staff. His responsibilities included managing security operations for multiple static sites and armed mobile security for critical convoys. His expertise in high-risk environments was further demonstrated in his role as Head of Corporate Investigations, where he led major investigations into terrorism, property theft, fraud, drug offences and violent crimes.

Garry played a pivotal role in expanding ANSIC’s operations globally, particularly in Afghanistan, where ANSIC became the primary risk management consultant to the Afghanistan Public Protection Force (APPF). This role involved managing over 15,000 armed guards, coordinating armed convoy movements and overseeing 495 static sites. His responsibilities included crisis management, threat assessment, staff training and liaising with high-level government and security agencies.

As the Head of Claims and Investigations at ANSIC, Garry leverages his comprehensive background in investigations and risk management to oversee the insurance claims assessing and investigations department. His strategic approach ensures thorough, timely and accurate claims processing, helping clients navigate complex claims scenarios with confidence.

Garry’s commitment to ongoing self-education and his ability to build and maintain professional relationships enhance ANSIC’s reputation for excellence in security and risk management. Serah Vai

Office Manager | HR

Serah Vai brings a wealth of experience in human resources and office management to her role at ANSIC. With over 15 years of professional experience, Serah has demonstrated exceptional skills in recruitment, compliance, training and administrative management, making her an invaluable asset to the team.

Serah’s career began with roles in administration and customer service, including positions at Westpac Bank and Community Health Ltd in New Zealand. Her strong foundation in customer relations and administrative support laid the groundwork for her future success in HR and management roles.

At Stellar Asia Pacific, Serah served as an HR Coordinator, where she was responsible for recruitment, onboarding, compliance and maintaining personnel records. Her role involved coordinating training sessions, assisting supervisors with performance management, and producing HR activity reports. This experience honed her skills in managing HR functions and supporting organisational goals.

Serah further advanced her career at CAP Security Services and INFRONT Security Services, where she held dual roles as HR Manager and Events Manager. In these positions, she oversaw recruitment, compliance, training, rostering and event operations. Her ability to manage large teams and ensure operational efficiency during high-profile events at venues like Suncorp Stadium and CBUS Super Stadium underscores her leadership capabilities and organisational acumen.

At ANSIC, Serah leverages her extensive HR and management experience to oversee office operations and human resource functions. Her responsibilities include recruitment and onboarding, compliance audits, training and development, and managing day-to-day office activities. Serah’s strategic approach to HR and her strong interpersonal skills ensure a positive and productive work environment at ANSIC.

Nicholas Heard

Operations Manager

Nicholas Heard serves as Operations Manager at ANSIC. He oversees delivery, performance and coordination of security operations across multiple sites and venues — corporate posts, licensed doors and event programs.

With a strong focus on structure, accountability and consistency, Nicholas keeps operational activity aligned with ANSIC’s standards and with what the client actually booked.

He leads workforce deployment, rostering and site coverage, and works with supervisors so day-to-day coverage holds. He implements and enforces Standard Operating Procedures so staff work with professionalism, compliance and attention to detail.

Nicholas is known for his calm, solutions-focused approach to operational challenges. Whether managing high-pressure environments or resolving on-the-ground issues, he maintains a clear focus on outcomes, team coordination and client satisfaction. His ability to balance strategic oversight with practical execution ensures operations run efficiently and consistently.

A strong leader, Nicholas prioritises clear communication, team accountability and continuous improvement. He works closely with Night Supervisors and field staff to build a cohesive, high-performing team that represents ANSIC to the highest standard.

Driven by results and operational excellence, Nicholas remains focused on strengthening systems, improving processes and supporting the ongoing growth of ANSIC’s security operations.

Oliver Findley

Events Manager

With over a decade of experience across security and service roles, Oliver Findley is ANSIC’s Events Manager. He has led event security operations for the past five years — logistics, risk and the team on the fence. He works with calm, focus and a commitment to a safe, orderly program.

Oliver’s professional journey includes key leadership roles such as Operations Manager, Event Manager and Crowd Control Supervisor. He has successfully assisted in events, including some of Queensland’s largest and most complex gatherings — Wildlands, Knotfest, Splendour in the Grass and Cooly Rocks On, to name a few — ranging in scale from 5,000 to over 35,000+ patrons.

What drives Oliver is the ever-changing nature of events. For him, no two are the same — the challenges, the teams, the expectations and the deliverables are always evolving. It’s this dynamic environment that keeps him motivated and passionate about every project he leads.

A leader who leads by example, Oliver is known for maintaining a high professional standard in everything he does. He is approachable, supportive and well-respected by both his peers and the teams he oversees. Whether he’s guiding staff through pre-event briefings, responding to high-pressure incidents, or collaborating with stakeholders, his steady presence fosters confidence across the board.

He is equally comfortable in planning meetings with clients and emergency services as he is on the ground during live operations. With a strong working knowledge of OH&S, emergency response protocols and crowd control principles, Oliver is both strategic and hands-on — able to see the bigger picture while managing the finer details.
